Surrogacy has come as a blessing for several people around the globe. It has also come to the rescue of several Bollywood celebs who wanted a baby. From Shah Rukh Khan to Sunny Leone to Aamir Khan, here’s a low down of celebs who had their kids via surrogacy. Take a look:
02/7Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh and wife Gauri surprised everyone when they welcomed their third child AbRam via surrogacy in 2013. The couple was already parents to two kids – Aryan and Suhana. The power couple shared the news with fans, writing, “Amidst all the noise that has been going around, the sweetest is the one made by our new-born baby, AbRam. He was born prematurely by several months but has finally come home.”
Karan Johar, too, opted for surrogacy and welcomed twins Roohi and Yash in 2017. In his book ‘An Unsuitable Boy’, he said that opting for surrogacy was an emotional yet well thought out decision which he had taken after considering all the responsibilities and duties that come with being a parent. The filmmaker has been a hands-on and doting father to his kids.
Sunny Leone, along with husband Daniel Weber, adopted a baby girl from a village in Maharashtra in 2017. The couple named her Nisha. A year later, in 2018, the duo became parents once again to twins–Noah and Asher, through surrogacy.
05/7Shilpa Shetty Kundra
Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra, who dote over their son Viaan, opted to have a baby girl via surrogacy. Talking about it, Shilpa told a news portal that her husband and she were trying for a second child for five years, but that she suffered from an autoimmune disease called APLA which came into play every time she got pregnant and she had had a couple of miscarriages.
Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao became parents to baby boy Azad Rao Khan via surrogacy in 2011. The couple even went on record to state that that they decided to take the surrogacy route as Kiran had suffered a miscarriage and uterine complications. Aamir is already father to two kids, Ira and Junaid, with his first wife Reena.
07/7Tusshar Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor
Siblings Tusshar Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor both surprised their parents when they opted for single parenthood. The brother and sister became parents through surrogacy. It was Tusshar who took the first step to become a single parent to son Laksshya Kapoor in June 2016. Ekta, who had been planning the same, followed suit and welcomed son, Ravie Kapoor in January 2019.
