Gone are the days when women were mere eye-candies in films. Today, they are not only taking up challenging roles but also shouldering films to success. The divas are also shattering conventional norms by coming up with important content as producers. Alia Bhatt has become the latest one to join the bandwagon of actress-turned-producers in Bollywood. Alia Bhatt never fails to surprise the audience with her performances and she has done it again, but this time by taking a plunge into production. The actress recently announced that she has started her own production company. She will be co-producing her first project titled, ‘Darlings’ with Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan’s Production Company. The production is set to feature Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Mathew.
After showing off her acting chops, Anushka Sharma teamed up with brother Karnesh Sharma to launch her own production house in 2014. In a throwback interview with a news portal, the actress had once said that she wanted to leverage the position which she had to produce good films. According to her, she did not start producing movies for her to star in and that she just wanted to tell good stories. Anushka has produced films like ‘Pari’, ‘NH10’, ‘Phillauri’, and the latest hits like ‘Paatal Lok’ and ‘Bulbbul’ that were released on OTT platforms.
From being one of the most talented actresses in Bollywood to becoming a global icon to turning producer–Priyanka Chopra has done it all. Talking about the reason she started her production house, Priyanka told, “Sometimes filmmakers don’t get the opportunity to present their stories for the audience and that is the reason why I always wanted to produce content-driven films across any language.” She has films like National Award-winning ‘Ventilator’ in Marathi, ‘Sarvann’ in Punjabi, ‘Pahura: The Little Visitors’ in Nepali. She has also backed films like ‘The Sky Is Pink’ and more recently, ‘The White Tiger’ among others.
After spending a decade in the Hindi film industry, Deepika Padukone decided to venture into production. The first film she produced was Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Chhapaak’ in 2019 which featured her. Apart from this, she has also co-produced Kabir Khan’s ‘’83’ which stars husband Ranveer Singh as cricketer Kapil Dev. Deepika will also be seen essaying the role of Ranveer’s on-screen wife Romi Dev in the movie.
Apart from being a fabulous author and an actress herself, Twinkle Khanna who is married to Akshay Kumar and is a doting mother to her kids, has also ventured into production. She had turned producer with ‘PadMan’ starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, and Radhika Apte. The movie received rave reviews from the audience and the critics alike.
