03/5Ileana D’Cruz: I’ve always worried about how I looked

Ileana D’Cruz had recently revealed that, for a long time, she had struggled with body image issues. Last year, she had shared in an Instagram post, “I’ve always worried about how I looked. I’ve worried my hips are too wide, my thighs too wobbly, my waist not narrow enough, my tummy not flat enough, my boobs not big enough, my butt too big, my arms too jiggly, nose not straight enough, lips not full enough….. I’ve worried that I’m not tall enough, not pretty enough, not funny enough, not smart enough, not “perfect” enough. Not realising I was never meant to be perfect.” Adding that she is slowly overcoming it, Ileana wrote, “I was meant to be beautifully flawed. Different. Quirky. Unique. Every scar, every bump, every “flaw” just made me, me. My own kind of beautiful. That’s why I’ve stopped. Stopped trying to conform to the world’s ideals of what’s meant to be beautiful. I’ve stopped trying so hard to fit in. Why should I?? When I was born to stand out.”

04/5Sara Ali Khan: Before I knew it, my weight had ballooned to 96 kg

Sara Ali Khan has also openly spoken about her weight loss journey. The actress was studying at Columbia University, when she binged on junk food, leading to rapid weight gain. “Before I knew it, my weight had ballooned to 96 kg. It was about this time that I was also diagnosed with PCOS,” she had told Mumbai Mirror. However, when she made up her mind to become an actress, losing weight was one of the first things she worked on. Sara said she adopted a healthy lifestyle, adding, “What really helped, in my case, was knowing that I was doing this for myself — the first time I saw myself on the camera monitor, I knew exactly what I wanted to look like and that has inspired me to keep working towards that ideal. I also make sure to never compare myself to anyone else, even in a casual remark.”

05/5Vidya Balan: My weight issue had become a national issue

Vidya Balan’s successful journey in films has often been punctuated with talks about her weight issues. In an exclusive interaction with ETimes’ Executive Editor Vinita Dawra Nangia, Vidya opened up about body-shaming and shared, “It was very public and at that time it was so insurmountable. I come from a non-film family. There was no one to tell me that these phases don’t last. My weight issue had become a national issue. I have always been a fat girl; I wouldn’t say that I am at a stage where my fluctuating weight doesn’t bother me anymore at all. But I have come a long way. I have had hormonal issues all my life. For the longest time, I hated my body. I thought it had betrayed me. On the days I was under the pressure of looking my best, I would bloat up and I would be so angry and frustrated. Over time, I accepted that my body is the only thing that is keeping me alive because the day my body stops functioning, I am not going to be around. I have a lot of gratitude for my body.”
