Till the 90s, Telugu cinema had innumerable ways to hide the inevitable kiss on the silver screen with help from a bobbing sunflower, the popping of the leg or the fogging the glass. While Bollywood has broken this taboo in 1933 with Devika Rani and Himanshu Rai indulging in an on-screen lip lock in Karma, Tollywood was uncomfortable with the brazen display of affection for a long time. However, with the rapidly changing audience tastes’ and the evolution of societal norms, the taboo has evolved to some of the most iconic kissing scenes in recent years.
In the past decade or so, big-ticket actors like Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun, Naga Chaitanya, Kajal Aggarwal, Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Akkineni have depicted a real kiss on the celluloid.

Samantha Akkineni made her celluloid debut opposite Naga Chaitanya in Ye Maaya Chesave.
